VOA is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals, families and communities reach their full spiritual, emotional and physical potential and well-being through a vast array of human services that target the elderly, at risk youth, those striving to overcome substance abuse, those transiting from correctional centers, veterans, homelessness and more.

General Function

Responsible for overall maintenance of vehicles, buildings and grounds: Perform various vehicle, building and grounds maintenance, minor repair services, and other duties as required.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Maintain records of all preventative maintenance and service activities.
  • Maintain a work order and vehicle inspection system in conjunction with the Director of Property Management.
  • Participate in and oversee maintenance projects including those completed by sub-contractors.
  • Maintain equipment, systems, buildings and grounds. Make repairs as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. 
  • Complete equipment and building repairs per manufacturer's instructions and maintenance procedures.
  • Work must be completed in a timely basis.
  • Participate in the rotation of on-call duty.
  • Maintain safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations set forth by the programs and directors.
  • Communicate with program directors regarding work progress and facility conditions.
  • Complete internal inspections of VOA NR properties. Regularly inspect buildings and grounds.
  • Exhibit awareness of the properties and grounds budget and practice fiscal responsibilities.
  • Work with program directors to ensure that maintenance costs are within budget.
  • Exhibit sensitivity and appropriate behavior with clients.  Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Provide support to VOA NR special events.
  • Maintain SDS (safety data sheets) binders for all chemicals utilized.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to the Director of Property Management about necessary repairs, maintenance and property improvements.
  • On-call snow removal during the winter months.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least one-year in commercial building and property maintenance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to move or transfer items throughout the facility generally weighing 0 50 pounds.
  • Requires having effective communication and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain good relations with facility directors, contractors and clients.
  • Must be capable of using and climbing extension ladder to access roof, windows and  siding to make repairs as needed.
  • Requires ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs, and painting, floor and carpet care.
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing effectively.
