VOA is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals, families and communities reach their full spiritual, emotional and physical potential and well-being through a vast array of human services that target the elderly, at risk youth, those striving to overcome substance abuse, those transiting from correctional centers, veterans, homelessness and more.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Ensure that all work is done properly and in a timely basis.
  • Maintain building interior by performing tasks such as cleaning furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures; washing windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors; cleaning and vacuuming carpeting; trash removal; resupplying rest rooms; replacing light bulbs.
  • Ensure that common area cleaning, vacuuming and trash removal is done daily or as scheduled.
  • Remove trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; recycling materials.
  • Maintain building interior and exterior accessibility and appearance by picking up papers and trash; emptying outside trash barrels as needed, keeping parking lot and external areas free of debris.
  • Maintain all lighting fixtures, replace bulbs, dust and clean.
  • Ensure that vacant units are made ready for rent in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Confer daily with community administrator to coordinate activities.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to Community Administrator on necessary cleaning and housekeeping improvements of the property. Including purchasing and ordering supplies in a timely manner, utilizing facility funds and charge accounts.
  • Maintain safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to a team effort, including assisting facility maintenance operations as needed.
  • Assist with set up/tear down of community room as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least one-year in commercial building cleaning and housekeeping..
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Effective communication and organizational skills. Must have ability to maintain good relations with residents and staff.
  • Must be capable of using and climbing step ladders.
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands :

  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills necessary.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to take initiative and meet established goals.
  • Ability to effectively work with a variety of computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and desktop publishing.
  • Communication proficiency and effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to regularly and effectively deal with the public.
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines under pressure.
